Catcher or center field?

I play softball, and my primary position is shortstop but i am playing in center field. I talked to my coach to see if there was another position i could play because center field is too boring... He told to be a catcher, i would love to but my knee is busted and i don't know if crouching for a long time will make it worse. Should i play catcher or just stay at center field??
