Do J-tag/Flashed Consoles get you banned?

So I have neither of these two types of consoles but I was thinking of getting one. I just started to get into modding after messing with Fallout 3 for sometime on my friend's PC. My question is if I get my console banned via online play with, let's say like a PS3 or 360. Is there a way to unban yourself or reset your console's IP number equivalent through some software?
