Stitches came out of mouth after wisdom teeth removal?

the stitches that came out are not covering where the tooth was extracted. the stitches that came out were where the surgeon made the cut in my gum to get to the wisdom tooth. i knew the stitch had come out but it wasnt until the day after i was eating chips and i felt my gum flap over. i went to look in the mirror and my gum was not attached to my teeth. it was bleeding because i irritated it. ever since i dont exactly feel pain but i feel almost like a nerve discomfort in the part of the gum where it is. my surrounding teeth also feel wierd and tender. I went to my oral surgeon today and he said not to worry about it and it would attach on its own. but i cant eat anything hard. it will just move my gum. then it will never attach. does anyone know what i should do? what will help it attach back? i have seriously have been freaking out about this since it happened. someone please relieve my nerves.
