Will a PS2 bought in India work in the US..?

I bought a PS2 system in India and brought to US. I can still play but there is no color. Unlike in Indian tvs there is no option here in the US to change the color system between PAL and NTSC. The option is not available on the console also? Is there any way I can play in color or am I doomed to play on blank and white?
